Vodafone India has launched Aadhaar based e-KYC solution in the Kolkata circle on a pilot basis.
According to the company, e-KYC is an instant, secure solution where a customer’s Aadhaar card and fingerprints are adequate for both validating and activating new prepaid and post-paid connections.
The process requires customers to present their Aadhaar cards to the operator?s retail store and provide their fingerprints in order to get a new mobile connection. Consumers’ e-KYC data will then be downloaded from Unique Identification Authority of India server. The consumer will then be required to check the customer application form in electronic format and after acknowledgement through biometric authentication, the activation request will be sent by Vodafone to the point of sale.
The service is currently available at 21 Vodafone stores in Kolkata and will be expanded gradually to Vodafone Mini stores.
