Vodafone Idea has reportedly received interest from a few private equity (PE) players including Brookfield Asset Management and KKR for its optic fibre business.
At present, Vodafone Idea has an inter and intra city fibre network spread across 160,000 kms in India. It has been looking to sell this business as a part of its plan to monetise assets and raise capital.
As per industry sources, the company has been talking to investors to gauge interest. So far, Brookfield and KKR have expressed interest. Further, Brookfield teams have already started due diligence on the deal which is expected to take between 2-4 months’ time.
Vodafone Idea is expecting a return of around $1.5-$2 billion through the sale of its fibre assets.
