Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has partnered with Celltick, a provider of cell broadcast-based products and public warning systems, to deploy an integrated public alert and warning system (IPAWS) for the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA).
According to the company, Vi subscribers in Andhra Pradesh circles, as well as domestic and international roaming customers on Vi’s Andhra Pradesh network, will receive real-time geo-targeted warnings in more than 10 Indian languages through the IPAWS system in an event of a disaster.
In addition to Vi’s 2G, 3G, and 4G networks, Celltick’s cell broadcast entity (CBE) and cell broadcast centre (CBC) will deliver emergency alerts on its 5G network too in the future.
