Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) has expanded its OpenRAN based deployments in India. As per the telco, it is committed to OpenRAN and will extend the deployment of time division duplexing (TDD) and massive multiple-input and multiple-output (Ma-MIMO) sites in other cities in 2020.
The deployment has been carried out using Mavenir’s Open RAN solutions for 4G which provide dis-aggregated solutions using commercial off the shelf (CoTS) equipment and new radio partners.
Vodafone Idea has been engaged with partners within OpenRAN space for developing a robust solution to cater to traffic requirements of Indian network. Further, the telco also aims to build a 4G+ network by advancing the deployment of 5G technologies in its 4G network.
