UK-based Vodafone Group’s chairman Gerard Kleisterlee and chief executive officer (CEO) Nick Read recently met the telecom secretary Anshu Prakash and sought a two year moratorium on deferred spectrum payments along with other relief measures.
According to industry sources, the company has asked for a two year moratorium on payment of spectrum bought in the past spectrum auctions. Further, it raised the long-standing issue of goods and services tax (GST) input tax credit with the government.
Vodafone Group officials also met the minister of commerce and industry during the day.
As per Vodafone Group, the company is positive about the investments Indian telecom services market through Vodafone Idea, irrespective of the financial stress. Vodafone further added that they are focussed on the successful integration of the business between Vodafone and Idea in India.
