Vodafone Essar has launched a per-second billing plan for national and international long distance (ILD) calls on its world calling cards. Under the scheme, national long distance calls are charged at Re 0.01 per second. Calls to the US and Canada are charged at Re 0.04 per second and to the Gulf region at Re 0.12 per second. Calls to fixed line phones in the UK and Europe cost Re 0.04 per second while calls to mobiles are charged at Re 0.12 per second. Post-paid and prepaid users are allowed to make calls to China, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia at similar rates.
