Vodafone India has contested the allegations imposed on it by international SIM card provider, Matrix Cellular in the matter regarding allocation of bulk SIM cards in 2007.
Earlier, Matrix Cellular had claimed that Vodafone India had misrepresented facts before the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) in the matter regarding the allocation of bulk SIM cards to the former in 2007. Responding to Matrix Cellular?s allegation, Vodafone India has disputed Matrix Cellular?s claims and emphasised that the allegations are without merit and the operator would contest them, as appropriate.
Earlier, in 2007, the DoT had stated that Vodafone India along with other operators such as Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular had provided Matrix Cellular SIM cards in bulk in alleged violation of subscriber verification norms thereby causing huge loss to the exchequer.
