Vodafone has appointed interim chief executive officer (CEO) Margherita Della Valle as the permanent CEO, stating that the company is impressed with her pace and decisiveness to begin the necessary transformation.

Valle stepped into the role of CEO on an interim basis after  the previous CEO Nick Read abruptly left in December 2022 after agreeing with the board for appointing new leadership.

Della Valle was backed by Vodafone’s biggest shareholder Emirates Investment Authority, which has a 14.6 per cent stake in the company. She has previously held roles in marketing and analytics before moving to finance. Her first major deal is likely to be the tie-up between Vodafone UK and Hutchison’s Three in Britain.
