Vodafone India has partnered with the ICICI Bank to launch the M-Pesa money transfer facility in the Uttar Pradesh (West) circle.
The service will be available across 137 tehsils, 49 districts through 2,800 authorised agents in Uttar Pradesh (West).
Using the M-Pesa service, subscribers will be able to deposit and withdraw cash from designated outlets, transfer money to any mobile phone in the country, pay their utility bills, recharge their mobile phones and shop at select outlets.
Commenting on the launch of the service, Dipankar Ghoshal, business head, Uttar Pradesh (West), Vodafone India, says, ?M-Pesa, is a safe, secure and convenient service to transfer money and make payments beyond the reach of traditional banking channels. For households where the earning members migrate to larger cities for earning livelihood, M-Pesa is the best option to send money back home to their families. ?
