Vivo India has set up a new manufacturing unit in Greater Noida under the first phase of its Rs 45 billion investment plan for the Indian market.

With the new facility, the company would be able to produce 33.4 million devices per annum, up from 25 million devices earlier. Further, Vivo has increased headcount in its new facility to 10,000 people.

Meanwhile, Vivo is also evaluating the prospects of starting exports from its Indian facilities.

The company has planned the second phase of mobile manufacturing expansion from mid-2020, under which it aims to increase headcount by another 5,000 persons. However, the incremental production capacity will depend on market demand prevailing at that time.
