Vishal Gupta, CEO and Founder, Seclore
As chief executive officer (CEO) and founder of Seclore, Vishal Gupta has been handling the company’s operations since its inception. He oversees corporate development, investor relations, and strategic vision, while also bringing in fresh perspectives and bold innovation to the field of information security. He launched his first venture, Herald Logic, in 2000, before stepping down as its CEO in 2011 and founding Seclore.
Deeply passionate about technology, and more specifically information security, Gupta believes that the data security industry is poised for significant developments in the coming years. He notes, “These trends encompass a surging demand for cybersecurity solutions, driven by the proliferation of cloud-based services and online data sharing.” He highlights the importance of adopting zero-trust principles within this time frame to safeguard assets. Industrial operational technology security and internet of things are anticipated to encounter heightened risks, prompting the implementation of stricter regulations across various regions. He anticipates that cloud-based cybersecurity such as secure access service edge will gain traction. Addressing prospective challenges, Gupta identifies complexities involved in securing third-party collaborations and the scarcity of skilled cybersecurity professionals as potential hurdles.
Gupta’s most memorable assignment was expanding Seclore’s geographical footprint into North America. “The initial days of the company (and myself) in the US were a comedy of errors, but it taught us valuable lessons about global business development, hiring, marketing, legal frameworks, etc.,” he fondly remembers.
As a leader, Gupta takes pride in being versatile and transparent. “For a leader, an accurate self-image goes a long way in company and team building,” he adds. He fosters close collaboration with his teams across the globe, actively engaging in all aspects of the business and actively contributing whenever possible. He also champions diversity within the company, boasting a workforce that represents over 30 nationalities, encompassing a wide range of ages, with a strong emphasis on gender equity.
Beyond the boardroom, Gupta is an avid traveller, blogger and speaker on information security solutions. “I am also a keen sportsman, with a particular interest in swimming and squash,” he says. Additionally, he is always on the lookout for the latest gadgets and technological innovations. He shares a close bond with his 16-year-old son and resides in a joint family with his wife, sister and parents.
