With the aim of meeting the increasing demand for data services, Viom Networks is planning to expand its existing tower portfolio. By end 2013, the company plans to establish between 1,500 and 2,000 towers at an estimated investment of Rs 1.5 billion. Further, the telecom infrastructure company plans to add about 10,000 new towers by 2015.
Currently, the company has a pan-India network of 40,500 towers with a tenancy ratio of 2.35. Viom Networks plans to set up new towers in cities where the existing telecom network is congested due to heavy traffic. In fact, it is focusing on ?in-filled sites? or ?urban in-fills?; a smaller tower between two larger ones, to boost coverage.
The funds for setting up new towers would largely be sourced through internal accruals.
