Vinod Rai, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) will reportedly testify once again before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the 2G spectrum case.
Rai is expected to explain how the government auditor concluded that 2G spectrum allocation caused losses of Rs 1.76 trillion to the exchequer.
Prior to this, Rai had appeared before the committee on November 15, 2011, during which he dismissed claims made by a former colleague that the actual revenue loss of due to 2G spectrum allocation was Rs 26.45 billion.
He had stated that various estimates up to Rs 4.19 trillion were projected during the audit process. He appeared before the JPC a day after R.P. Singh, former director general, audit (post and telecommunications) and lead auditor of the 2G audit report, claimed that the presumptive loss of Rs 1.76 trillion due to 2G spectrum allocation was a mathematical guess.
