Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) will spend Rs 4.5 million over the next two years to set up 2,000 Wi-Max base stations across the country. Subsequently, the company will be able to roll out wireless internet services to corporate customers in 120 cities.

VSNL, which has launched commercial Wi-Max services in Bangalore, will extend these services to Delhi and Mumbai in the next three months. The company will also invest $500 million in the current fiscal year to expand operations and upgrade existing cable systems. It will not only lay two new cables in partnership with leading carriers, but is also looking at acquiring companies which provide data enterprise solutions.
