KAIL Limited, a subsidiary of the Videocon Group, has started manufacturing of mobile handsets at its Salt Lake facility in Kolkata. The facility was set up with an initial investment of Rs 500 million and will have an annual production capacity of 3 million units. The facility is the group?s second mobile manufacturing unit after Aurangabad.
The Salt Lake City manufacturing facility will initially commence production of feature phones, though smartphones and tablets will be also manufactured subsequently. The company also intends to manufacture mobile handsets for other vendors in the future.
