Viavi Solutions has launched CERTiFi, a cloud-based system enabling enterprise cabling contractors to manage test and certification projects. CERTiFi is powered by Viavi’s StrataSync cloud management platform for network service providers.
Enterprises are installing, expanding and upgrading data centres and networks to address a continuing acceleration in bandwidth usage. According to Viavi’s State of the Network study, 48 per cent of respondents expect bandwidth to double between 2016 and 2017. This trend is driving growth in the breadth and complexity of networks, technician workloads and outsourcing to contractors. Therefore, contractors need an efficient way to manage projects across their technician base to improve accuracy and speed of certification.
To this end, CERTiFi enhances overall project workflows by syncing test and certification instruments such as the Certifier40G and SmartClass Fiber OLTS-85P, and managing them using a centralised cloud-based system. It therefore enables the administrator to create and distribute project designs, assign projects to team members, preload test instruments with tasks and required test criteria, and assimilate, analyse and share test results in real time. Moreover, with CERTiFi, team members can establish an alignment at every stage of their projects, ranging from creating design requirements and assigning tasks to performing tests and analysing project metrics, which can significantly reduce the time, cost and errors associated with offline communication.
The new system supports a variety of user interfaces (UI) ranging from web-based, mobile application-based (iOS and Android) and on-instrument-based UIs. These interfaces are a part of Viavi’s workflow design to maximise efficiency. Moreover, the CERTiFi mobile application enables field managers to have everything they need on their mobile devices, so that they can manage their crew and maintain communication within the office. As field technicians complete tests on their CERTiFi-enabled instruments, the site lead can auto-synchronise results to the CERTiFi mobile application using a wireless connection. This allows them to view test results without disrupting their field team’s progress.
According to Viavi, with CERTiFi, the company aims to build on the StrataSync framework, which has been tailored to meet the distinct requirements of enterprise environments. Enterprises can now use Viavi’s portfolio of enterprise test and certification instruments in conjunction with Viavi’s advanced cloud-based workflow solution.
