According to Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi), it has received a goods and services tax (GST) demand of nearly Rs 6.38 billion from the Office of the Additional Commissioner, Central Goods and Services Tax, Ahmedabad.
In a regulatory filing, the telecom operator said it does not agree with the order and intends to pursue appropriate legal remedies. According to the company, the order relates to allegations of short payment of tax and excess availing of input tax credit. Vi added that the maximum financial exposure would be limited to the tax demand, along with interest and penalty, and reiterated that it will challenge the order through legal action.
