Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has reportedly paid around 10 per cent of its licence fee and spectrum usage charge (SUC) for the first quarter of fiscal year 2023, and is likely to have sought more time from the government to clear the balance in multiple tranches.

As per industry sources, Vi has paid the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) around Rs 770 million towards licence fees against the nearly Rs 7.7 billion due in the said quarter. The operator has also cleared nearly Rs 140 million towards SUC, against around Rs 1.37 billion that was due on this score in the first quarter.

Further, Vi has sought time till October 2023 to clear its Q1 licence fee and SUC dues to minimise operational continuity risks and also balance all stakeholder interests.
