Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has missed the deadline to provide a bank guarantee (BG) of Rs 60.9 billion or make a cash payment of Rs 54.93 billion to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for the shortfall related to the 2015 spectrum auction. The financially strained telecom operator was expected to fulfil this obligation by March 10, 2025, but failed to do so by the end of business hours.

The payment is required to cover the shortfall in spectrum usage fees on a pro-rata basis, in accordance with the BG waiver terms outlined by the DoT in December last year.
