Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has received demand orders from various goods and services tax (GST) offices totaling over Rs 730 million, which includes tax dues, penalties, and interest. The company is facing nine orders primarily for alleged short payments of taxes and excess input tax credit (ITC) claims.

The Kolkata GST office imposed the largest penalty of Rs 334.4 million on September 1 for alleged tax shortfalls and excess ITC. The Noida GST office demanded a penalty of approximately Rs 269 million for similar issues related to the fiscal year 2019-20. Additionally, the Patna GST office levied a penalty of Rs 109.4 million. Smaller penalties were also issued by GST offices in Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, which are Rs 4,211, Rs 86,000, Rs 9.51 million, and Rs 15.7 million respectively.

Vi does not agree with the orders and will seek the reversal or rectification of the orders.
