Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has completed minimum rollout obligations for commencing 5G services in its 17 circles. The company had acquired spectrum for this minimum rollout obligations in August 2022.
However, while the telco has met the minimum requirements, a full-fledged 5G rollout will commence in the coming months.
According to the company, it had bought mid band 5G spectrum (3300 MHz band) in its 17 priority circles and mmWave 5G spectrum (26 GHz band) in 16 circles.
The telco aims to utilise Rs 130 billion out of the Rs 180 billion follow-up public offer (FPO) for capital expenditure (CapEx). Apart from the FPO, the telco aims to get Rs 250 billion through debt. In addition, the company has already approved raising Rs 20.75 billion from a promoter entity through a preferential share issue.
Further, Vi plans to reach 40 per cent revenue coverage in 24-30 months, with the rollout likely to commence in the coming months. Furthermore, the company is expected to offer 5G in the non-standalone (NSA) mode as investments are lower than in standalone (SA) networks.
