The United States government is expected to seek changes in India’s policies on telecom security and encryption in its next meeting with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), say news reports.

It is believed that discussing the liberalisation of internet telephony in India is also on the agenda. The US Trade Representative deems these issues as important, since American companies have experienced stringent security norms for import of telecom networks in the country.

Such companies have also expressed concerns about the government’s plans to seek encryption of all communication and internet services.
