United Telecom Limited (UTL), a joint venture company of MTNL, VSNL, Telecommunications Consultants India and a local Nepalese firm, has been granted permission by the Nepalese government to start voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services in the country. UTL recently became the first operator to start VoIP-based ILD services in Nepal.
