Unitech Wireless has awarded a $500 million contract to Ericsson to supply and manage its network equipment for the rollout of mobile services in three telecom circles. Ericsson will be responsible for managing the network for five years in the Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh (East and West) circles. Meanwhile, the company is likely to miss the July 2009 deadline for the launch of telecom services, as it still does not have the requisite infrastructure in place. While it has tied up for towers and equipment, Unitech Wireless’s marketing and distribution set-up is still not in place.
