Union minister of Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) and union minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs recently held discussions aimed at expediting India’s digital and regional connectivity through capital expenditure optimisation, indigenous technology, and inter-ministerial coordination. The meeting reflected a unified effort to reinforce infrastructure supporting the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (MDoNER), and India Post.

The union minister of Communication and DoNER described the interaction as a “constructive dialogue” focused on enhancing resource efficiency to accelerate digital infrastructure, modernise public services, and extend connectivity to remote regions. The ministers underscored digital empowerment and fiscal prudence as key enablers of an inclusive and self-reliant Bharat. The MDoNER’s expenditure in the northeast reached a record Rs 344.77 billion in financial year 2024-25, marking a 74.4 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise.
