The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has allowed the common service centre that are designated as banking correspondents (BCs) to start the Aadhaar updation facility. Around 20,000 centres will now be able to offer the service.

The CSCs are special purpose vehicle (SPV) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

As per the government, the move will help the rural population to get Aadhaar services closer to their homes.

With this, the government has asked the CSC’s village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) with banking facilities to start the Aadhaar work as per the UIDAI instructions once they upgrade their infrastructure and get other necessary approvals. The deadline for which has been set to June 2020.
