UAE-based telecom operator Etisalat has launched mobile services in Nigeria, becoming the fifth operator in the West African country. The company acquired the operating licence in Nigeria through Mubadala Development Company. Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services (EMTS), a Nigerian firm, hadearlier entered into a partnership with Mubadala Development Company following Mubadala’s acquisition of a unified access licence (including a mobile phone licence) from the Nigerian government in January 2007 for $400 million.
