Tushar Gupta , Lead Pre-sales Solution Architect, Google Cloud

Tushar Gupta is lead pre-sales solution architect for Google Cloud. He is responsible for Google Cloud adoption in the telecom sector and other industries. His responsibilities involve contributing technical and business solutions to customers’ issues and vision.

Gupta, who started his career as an infrastructure engineer, has over 14 years of work experience across different enterprise data centre technologies and multi cloud platforms. He has also provided management consulting and advisory to technology leaders for their overall digital transformation strategies.

Gupta believes that telecom companies are past the phase of providing only communication services. “With the rapidly rising demand for digital technologies in this artificial intelligence (AI) transformation era, telcos are evolving with new service offerings in both the business-to-consumer and business-to-business (B2B) sectors to address the demand,” he remarks. Gupta highlights a few examples such as AI/machine learning (ML)-powered voice bots, enhanced agent efficiency by leveraging generative AI capabilities to handle customers’ requests to scale, harnessing AI/ML and other data analytics services to boost the customer acquisition rate and overall lifetime value, and additional digital services built on next-generation cloud platforms to serve B2B customers.

His most memorable assignment involved bringing operational efficiency to customer billing for a telco. “The customer wanted to achieve efficiency in analysing billing reports to get insights on billing trends, payment patterns and delays, and perform customer profiling to upsell or cross-sell other digital services. With our detailed discovery abilities and proposed technical architecture, we helped the customer achieve the desired operational efficiency in analysing billing reports by reducing the time taken from around 14 hours to 3-4 minutes,” Gupta reminisces.

As a manager, Gupta prefers giving freedom and space to his colleagues. “I believe in taking equal responsibility for each assigned task and in shared success and failure,” he adds.

Gupta has a B. Tech in computer science and engineering from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. He describes himself as an audiophile and likes to spend time listening to his favourite tracks in lossless audio formats. His family comprises his parents and his wife. “My father is a businessman and my mother is a homemaker,” he says. Gupta also likes to watch movies on OTT platforms and spend time exploring new places with his travel partner – his wife, who works in IT and specialises in cybersecurity technologies.
