Turkey’s Turk Telekom has awarded the ZTE Corporation a contract whereby the vendor will be the sole supplier of core network equipment and services for a nationwide all-internet protocol (IP) network transformation project. This will be one of the world’s largest fixed network replacement contracts, with an expected 17.5 million lines of total network capacity. The network will enable Turk Telekom to launch converged services including VoIP, voice over broadband, voice call continuity, unified message services, multimedia messaging services, multimedia ringback tones and number portability. Under the deal, ZTE will also deliver a comprehensive next-generation solution including an IP multimedia subsystem core network, a comprehensive service platform, multi-service access nodes and large-capacity trunking gateways.
