Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) has stated that it has reduced the carbon emissions across its 10,000 base stations. The company has stated that it has reduced grid power consumption of 46,486 MWh and diesel consumption by 12,725 kilo litre, leading to a footprint reduction of over 78,874 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
To achieve this target, the company deployed a mix of innovative solutions including housing indoor equipment in outdoor cabinets and using outside climate to affect the cooling process, which significantly eliminated the cost and environmental impact for air conditioning. According to the company, the diesel costs were as high as 31 per cent of its operating expenditure.
