Tata Teleservices has reportedly moved the Supreme Court requesting for a recalculation of its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues.

Earlier, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) had also moved the Supreme Court highlighting arithmetical errors made by the government in calculating their AGR dues.

In its petition, TTSL has claimed that Department of Telecommunications’ demands exceeded its deemed revenue and added up to more than the book balance. Further, it has also appealed that double-counting and erroneously added monthly interest and penalties should be rectified and adjusted.

As per DoT’s estimates, TTSL’s AGR liability stood at Rs 167.98 billion. Of this, TTSL has already paid Rs 41.97 billion.

Earlier in 2020, TTSL had paid DoT Rs 21.97 billion as per its self-assessment of AGR dues and then an additional Rs 20 billion. The operator now has to pay the remaining the amount over 10 annual instalments, ending in March 2031.
