The Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) has inaugurated a centre of excellence (CoE) in Guwahati to train youth in handheld device repair in association with Britco & Bridco. The inauguration was graced by the chief guest Jayanta Mallabaruah, Minister of Public Health Engineering, Tourism, Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Assam), who praised the efforts of TSSC, citing the growing economy of Assam and its growing contribution to the Indian economy.

Students who are 12th pass or degree completed students can join the four-month course to get easy employment in mobile phone repairing and entrepreneurship in smartphone, robotics, metaverse, artificial intelligence (AI) and other futuristic technologies in India and abroad. The CoE will cater to roles in handheld device repair with a focus on international placements in the Middle East and Africa. The CoE will also host train-the-trainer and assessor programs for certifying trainers and assessors.

Commenting on the development, Anand Mishra (IPS), assistant inspector general, Sports, Assam, said, “I am impressed with the way Britco & Bridco provides training with a vision. I do appreciate TSSC and Britco & Bridco providing world class facility here in Guwahati to empower the students of North East instead of going to Delhi or Kerala. The way this centre is setup and training is provided is very impressive. This centre is definitely going to support the north-eastern students by giving them wings to fly beyond their expectations. The training will not only help students to work in Assam or Northeast but in the entire nation, even globally. It is great to see that both the organisations have helped so many students achieve their dreams and are continuing to do so. It is tremendous to see that you (TSSC and Britco & Bridco) are growing with your students with this initiative.”

Meanwhile, Arvind Bali, chief executive officer, TSSC, said, “The telecom industry is spending Rs 25 billion to expand 5G networks in Assam by the end of this year. The state of Assam is growing at 12 per cent GDP offering a fertile opportunity for development of the handset segment. As one of the fastest growing states for the past four years, we find that the youth of Assam have immense potential for international placements as ambassadors of our nation. Moreover, the growth of the state is an indicator for entrepreneurial opportunities within the state in both urban and rural fronts. Britco & Bridco will be a strategic partner who will help us align with the future demands of the industry and provide the crucible for the transformation of the students.”

TSSC will support Britco & Bridco in creating strategic partnerships for international placements. This centre will also serve as an adequate facility for industrial training for B. Tech/diploma/certificate courses. The lab setup will cater to high-end courses in device repair technology.

Further, Muthu Kozhichena, managing director, Britco & Bridco said “We at Britco & Bridco consistently strive to meet the industry demand when it comes to device repair. As an institute with a strong legacy and ethos, we must provide a platform to the youth to become global contributors. As academic partners of TSSC, our expertise in this market will help the youth in Assam become employable for big international organizations. We have also created an entrepreneurship model where students will be taught how to setup their own shop and create business locally. This CoE will be attracting aspiring entrepreneurs and technical enthusiasts. We plan to churn out high-calibre global talent through this CoE.”

Britco & Bridco will host the lab setup and all equipment necessary for the training. The paid programs will be run by Britco & Bridco at the centre which will act as a hub for regional students to upskill themselves in advance handheld device repair training.
