According to the chairman, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), TRAI recommendations on artificial intelligence (AI) are reportedly currently under government review, with multiple initiatives underway to evaluate the trustworthiness of emerging technologies.
He noted that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched several projects in collaboration with research institutions and educational bodies to test and ensure the reliability of AI systems, underscoring the government’s seriousness on the issue.
TRAI had earlier recommended the creation of an independent statutory body, the Artificial Intelligence and Data Authority of India (AIDAI), to oversee the development of responsible AI and regulate its use cases in the country.
