The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has requested the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to consider its recommendations made for the last spectrum auction to plan the sale of airwaves. The regulator has informed the DoT that it will take time to come up with suggestions on pricing and other modalities for new frequency bands – Q (33-50 GHz) band and V (40-75 GHz) band.

According to Gulab Chand, joint wireless advisor, DoT, the government is trying to hold the next spectrum auction by the end of the current fiscal year or at the beginning of the next fiscal year. He informed that much of the spectrum allocated in the lower band earlier is due to expire in this fiscal year and telecom operators would like to acquire it again.
