The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the findings of independent drive tests (IDTs) conducted across North Delhi and nearby areas in April 2026 to assess the quality of mobile network services offered by telecom service providers (TSPs). The drive tests covered 374.2 km of city routes, 13 hotspot locations, a 7 km walk test and a 57.8 km airport route under the Delhi licensed service area (LSA).
According to the findings, Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) recorded the lowest coverage gap, with 507 out of 51,031 samples showing poor signal strength, followed by Reliance Jio with 709 out of 49,966 samples and Bharti Airtel with 719 out of 50,951 samples. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) recorded 31,918 poor signal strength samples out of 44,486. In terms of call performance, Vi reported zero dropped calls out of 459 successfully established calls, while Airtel recorded three dropped calls out of 452 calls, Reliance Jio reported four dropped calls out of 459 calls and MTNL recorded 48 dropped calls out of 362 calls.
For mobile data performance, Reliance Jio recorded the highest average download throughput at 222.34 Mbps, followed by Airtel at 132.26 Mbps, Vi at 35.28 Mbps and MTNL at 4.28 Mbps. Airtel led in average upload throughput at 28.36 Mbps, followed by Vi at 25.18 Mbps, Reliance Jio at 23.55 Mbps and MTNL at 1.14 Mbps.
The drive tests were conducted between April 13 and April 17, 2026, covering locations including Jaunti, Kanjhawala, Bawana, Bakoli, Alipur, Rohini, Karala, Shastri Park, Burari, Shalimar Bagh, Mukherjee Nagar, Wazirabad, Ashok Nagar, Paschim Vihar and Janakpuri.
