The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a consultation paper titled “Telecommunication Infrastructure Sharing, Spectrum Sharing, and Spectrum Leasing”. Through the consultation paper, TRAI has sought comments from stakeholders on issues related to spectrum sharing and leasing of spectrum, along with issues relating to infrastructure sharing.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), through its letter dated February 10, 2022, informed TRAI that to promote optimum resource utilisation among the licensees, it is proposed to allow sharing of all kinds of telecom infrastructure and network elements among all categories of service providers, licensed under the Section 4 of Indian Telegraph, Act, 1885, for provision of authorised telecom services. Through the said letter, DoT sought the recommendations of TRAI.
Written comments on the issues raised in the consultation paper are invited from the stakeholders by February 10, 2023, and counter-comments by February 24, 2023.
