
The Telecom regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has relaxed number portability (MNP) rules for users on the new 2G operators? network.
As per the amended rules, subscribers who are on the new 2G operators? network will no longer have to wait for the mandatory 90-day period if they want to shift to another mobile service provider.
TRAI has made these changes in MNP rules because the new operators? licences are scheduled to be cancelled by
TRAI?s new amended rules rule will be applicable to subscribers on the older operators’ network as well. MNP was introduced in 2010. Till date about 30 million 30 subscribers have availed MNP with Idea Cellular being the biggest gainer.
