The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is reportedly expected to come out with an outcome on premium plan offerings by Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea in two weeks.

According to industry sources, the telecom regulator is not inclined to allow tariff plans that offer faster data speeds for higher payment, and may stop Vodafone Idea’s RedX and Airtel’s Platinum offers. Further, TRAI added that both the telcos have been unable to prove that their premium plans have not degraded the quality of services for customers on other plans.

To this end, Bharti Airtel has said that it will stop its priority 4G network service for premium customers, if the TRAI directs the company to do so. However, Airtel is of the view that it has not violated any regulatory tariff guidelines.
