According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the processing fee levied by operators on top-up vouchers should not exceed 10 per cent of the maximum retail price of the coupon or Rs 3.
Rationalising the processing fee structure, TRAI has made amendments to the Telecommunication Tariff (Fifty Third Amendment) Order, 2012 to accommodate the proposed changes in the processing fee for top-up vouchers.
Currently, the processing fee on top-ups of Rs 20 and above is Rs 3 and Rs 2 for top-ups below Rs 20.
Meanwhile, TRAI has kept call and SMS tariffs of premium services under forbearance.
