P D Vaghela, chairman, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has said that the regulator is likely to submit its recommendations on 5G spectrum by March-end or early April 2022.
TRAI had received the reference with regard to this in October 2021. Post receiving the reference, the regulatory body immediately started working on it.
Explaining the complexities, Vaghela said that a lot of technical studies were considered. The chairman further noted that for such processes the regulator usually takes a timeline of around seven to eight months to make recommendations when it comes to spectrum auction. But, Vaghela has affirmed that TRAI will be able to submit its recommendation by March 31, 2022 or maybe, latest by first or second week of April 2022.
Further, post receiving the recommendations, the government will initiate the auction process.
