TRAI issues ?The Telecom Customer Preference Regulations, 2010?

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today issued ?The Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2010?. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had issued ?The Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2010? on 1st December 2010 and ?The Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Amendment) Regulations, 2010? on 14^th December 2010. As per the principal regulations issued on 1^st December 2010, Telemarketers Registration was required to be implemented with effect from 15th December, 2010 and rest from 1st January, 2011.

However, having regard to security audit of the website and other processes involved, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has found it necessary to re-determine the dates for implementation of the aforesaid regulations. Accordingly, TRAI has issued ?The Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2010? today. According to the provisions of these regulations, Telemarketers Registration shall commence from 15^th January, 2011 and other provisions shall come into force from 1^st February, 2011.
