The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a consultation paper on regulating mobile value added services (VAS).

In a statement, the regulator said, “With a view to bring out all the aspects of the relevant issues and to provide a suitable platform for discussion, TRAI has initiated this consultation paper, focusing on future-looking regulatory framework for provisioning of mobile value added services (VAS).?

TRAI has emphasised on the urgency to develop a forward looking framework to facilitate growth in all VAS-related segments, such as content development, technology platforms, content aggregation, etc. Stakeholders are expected to send their comments by August 12 and counter-comments by August 19.
