TRAI has released its recommendations on “Growth of Broadband” As per the recommendations, which are similar to TRAI’s draft regulations released in September 2007, spectrum for 3G and WiMax should be made available at the earliest to boost the deployment of broadband using these technologies; the governmentshould expedite its decision on TRAI’s recommendations regarding the mechanism and pricing of spectrum for 3G and broadband wireless access; and the government should encourage Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and MTNL to participate in public-private partnerships for provisioning of broadband services.
