TRAI has directed service providers to do away with the practice of levying a processing charge on recharge cards, barring an adminis trative fee not exceeding Rs 2, to be made effective from September 15, 2008.

TRAI has directed service providers to do away with the practice of levying a processing charge on recharge cards, barring an administrative fee not exceeding Rs 2, to be made effective from September 15, 2008. TRAI has also mandated that customers should be able to migrate from their existing lifetime validity plans to new lifetime validity plans with lower entry fees, without having to make any additional payment. In addition, customers need not recharge their connections more than once in six months. TRAI has also stated that consumers must benefit from any tariff reduction by their operator without having to ask for it.
