TRAI has asked DoT to amend the national numbering plan (NNP) as soon as possible. According to TRAI, unless the NNP is in place, the regulator cannot issue guidelines to initiate number portability in the metros. According to the original schedule, number portability is to be implemented in the four metros by the second half of 2008.
