The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the deadline for submitting comments on its consultation paper on “Transparency in Publishing of Tariff orders” to February 7, 2020. Likewise, the deadline to submit counter comments has been extended to February 21, 2020.

This is the second time that the stakeholders have sought an extension for submitting comments on the consultation paper which was originally supposed to close on December 26, 2019. TRAI had issued the consultation paper on November 27, 2019.

Through its consultation paper, TRAI had sought industry stakeholders’ views on enhancing transparency in disclosure of phone services rates. Further, the regulator has proposed the introduction of a tariff calculator to help customers find the best plans suited to their usage.

Moreover, TRAI has sought industry view on having higher transparency for details of unlimited data plans, where promised speed is provided only up to a certain level of usage and information is concealed in service thereafter.
