The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the last date of receiving stakeholder views on the draft regulations on consumer protection and redressal frameworks from July 25 to August 4.
TRAI has chalked out steps to be followed by operators to protect the interest of consumers and has stressed upon the timely redressal of various issues.
TRAI has also suggested providing bills to prepaid users under the Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation. The regulator has said, “Every service provider shall, on request from any consumer, who has been given a prepaid mobile connection, supply the consumer, at a reasonable cost and within a time period of fifteen days of receipt of such request, information relating to itemised usage charges.?
In the other draft, TRAI has asked all operators to establish compliant centres within 60 days of implementation of the proposed regulation.
