The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently issued the ‘Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability Per Port Transaction Charge and Dipping Charge (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2019’. Through the regulations, the TRAI has directed an almost 66 per cent cut in per port transaction charge (PPTC).
The new charges are brought down to Rs 6.46 for port out services offered by mobile number portability service providers (MNPSPs). Earlier, the PPTC was fixed at Rs 19. The charges will be applicable from November 11, 2019.
The move comes after taking into consideration industry comments on TRAI’s consultation process on the issue and other information available on record.
