The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has directed Aircel, Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) to submit weekly reports on unsolicited commercial communications.
TRAI’s directive is aimed at keep a tab on the activities of unauthorised telemarketers who send commercial text messages using various operators’ networks. TRAI has made it mandatory for the operators to establish a system which will track unauthorised telemarketers. The weekly report, which will include the name of the telemarketing companies, submitted by the operators would be put up on TRAI’s website.
