The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has asked Bharti airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular whether they have increased their prices and has asked the operators to provide details of these plans.
Currently, operators are required to notify the regulator if they change any tariff plans or introduce any new plans. Prior to this, in early 2011, TRAI had asked operators to explain the drop in tariffs to Re 0.01 per second.
Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular have recently increased prepaid tariffs in select circles by 20 per cent.
